Every home has one! Some houses have more than one! Either way, a bathroom is an important room in the house as it gets used by every household member. Bathrooms can be designed to work for you and your lifestyle. There are a few different types of bathrooms to choose from in a home such as; the master bathroom, an en-suite bathroom, a ‘wet room’ bathroom, a disability bathroom.
Here are a few handy tips to consider when choosing a new bathroom for your home.
1 – LAYOUT – the layout of your bathroom will dictate where the pipework will need to be positioned – this is the first stage of your new bathroom. If space is an issue, then having a shower over the bath could help with this.
2 – LIGHTING – spotlights work well in a bathroom, however, positioning them over the shower will need a light which is rated for damp or moist areas. Bathrooms can also incorporate feature lighting, another way of creating a calming mood for that relaxing soak at the end of the day.
3 – VENTILLATION – to avoid mould building up in a bathroom, it is important to have an extractor fan or vent to remove moisture and odours from the bathroom to the outdoors. In older houses, there may not be any so installing one will keep your new bathroom looking new.
4 – TILES – tiles can be from floor to ceiling, half-way up or just in specified areas (like the sink and shower). Using different coloured tiles in certain areas can highlight a feature in the room. You can also choose from many different coloured grouts too!
